Looks Could Kill

Hello, sweet babes!

This new year has been the freshest slate, as stereotypically as it can come. Change is a big factor to my happiness (an online Tony Robbins quiz told me so) and kicking off 2018 on the other side of the world, back home in the delicious heat of Australia's Gold Coast has refreshed me in so many ways.

In playing catch-up I've been slow and, yeah, totally resistant to getting my "real life" sorted. I have too much to create, honey bees! You have no idea how many lists I've written of paintings and projects to start.

So, now, with time in my favour, it's up to nobody but me to make art all day and make the magic happen. It's also up to me to allow that idea to inspire and not terrify. I want to paint the pictures that fill my mind, write, take photos, make videos, and fill sketchbooks, baby, I want to do it all.

Though I've started the foundations for a few pieces, this babe here is the first I've finished this year (and the largest I've painted yet!).

She's part of my More Girl Art series, in which I explore the representation of women. How we see ourselves, how others see us, and our place in media. Babes are taking it back. What I want is for women telling their own stories. Less telling us how we feel, how we want to look and be. Women taking their spaces, owning their voices and their bodies. That's right where I'm at!
